About Us

The Roman Catholic School of Mabai Rowalla is located in the Tonkolili district of Sierra Leone. The school was originally founded in the 1960s by the Catholic Mission. Today, RC Mabai continues to educate primary school students from classes 1 to 6. RC Mabai is a government school, and follows the government curriculum with supervision from the Catholic mission and the office of education in Magburaka.

RC Mabai is a government school with a charter from the Ministry of Education. RC Mabai follows the government syllabus provided by the MBSSE. RC Mabai proudly prepared class 6 each year for their NPSE Exam. In the 2022-2023 academic year, all class 6 student passed their NPSE and graduated.

Sports

RC Mabai is proud to be hosting sports in early April of 2024. The competition will include several neighboring primary schools. Competitions include everything from spoon races to track and field events. Students have began training with their houses and entry will be 3 Le. The RC Mabai boys and girls relay teams recently competed at Ropolo secondary school. The girls places 2nd and the boys placed 1st. Congradulations to our athletes and coach Alhajie Bangura!

School Development

RC Mabai is currently looking for funding to complete a second school building. Despite having six different grades, RC Mabai has only four classrooms. This puts incredible strain on both teachers and students alike. The project would allow for three extra classrooms. Upon completion RC Mabai would be able to open a nursery for the first time. In addition, the project includes a solar business to help pay community teachers. This would alleviate a financial burden that currently lies with the Mabai village community. Renovations are set for June-July.

School Renovations

In November of 2023 RC Mabai was able to undertake renovations of it's main building. The renovations included fresh paint, artwork, new zinc for the roofing, cement restoration of walls/floors, and 100 posters distributed between classes.

School Elections

In October 2023 we held school elections. After a week of campaigning, students heard final speeches from candidates. Classes 1 through 6 then participated in the democratic process. They elected a head-boy/head-girl, and ministers of education, health, sports and agriculture.
